I believe friendship comes in many forms: 'best' friends, close friends, friends you've known for ___ years, etc. The list goes on because everyone has new ways of saying what their friends are to them. Some people have friends that they only do certain things with, such as horse back riding. Friendship is timeless. If you lose someone's friendship, I honestly believe it is still there underneath.
When a great friendship is lost, it is either because one person did something wrong, or an argument about stupid things happened. When it comes down to it, above all else, I believe that that friend will be there if something bad happens. When it comes down to it, that friend will care and try to help you through hard times, especially if they've helped you through times like that before and no one else has.
I have lost a lot of friends over the years, and I have grown used to it, even though it sucks. It doesn't get easier, and it doesn't make me any stronger. Friendship takes work. If there is nothing in this post that gets through to you, try to let this make it through. Friendship is hard. You need to trust, you need to believe, and you need to love. In my opinion, those are some of the things that make friendship worth it.
The ability to have someone you're able to talk to no matter what. The knowledge that with this person, you're able to trust them no matter what. The person that you can go to and act like a complete fool with them. Eating pints of ice cream just because it's fun and you want to pig out. So many bonuses come from friendship that you cannot have by yourself. Friendship is worth working for. Friendship is worth the little bits of jealousy you might get here and there because they have something that you don't: love, a new car, etc.
There are many people in the world that feel like the only person that they can trust is themselves. I feel bad for them. I feel bad that they can't confide in other people when they need to. If I could be someone that anyone could talk to about anything, I would. But it's just not that easy because there are so many people in the world and frankly, I don't know close to 1/4005948 of them (well, I don't think I do). But for those who read this, or for those who know me...
I'm always willing to listen.
I pinky promise. Because I know what it's like to not have anyone there to talk to. It's hard and it hurts. I made it through, though, by making friends and having people to talk to. It's hard, but it helps. To end this on a better note,
I have two quotes:
"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with friendship."
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
"As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let us down, probably will. You'll have your heart broken and you'll break others' hearts. You'll fight with your best friend or maybe even fall in love with them, and you'll cry because time is flying by. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, forgive freely, and love like you've never been hurt. Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. you just have to live life to the fullest, tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone's hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. Don't be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all, live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back."

These people have been there for me throughout the years in many different ways, whether or not we're still close:
R: You've been there when I've needed a shoulder. You're kind and you're caring even though you're insanely blunt. But sometimes, people need the blunt-ness. Sometimes, it's the only way to get through. Thanks for being blunt, and being there for hugs. (:
C: To put this in short... for the past 12 years you've been there through a lot of it with me. Thanks for all the laughter, the insane things we'd do.. and for sometimes letting me borrow your clothes because I'd fall in a puddle or something ;) <3
F: You're simply amazing. We basically became friends right away. Talk about the best Halloween Party ever! There are so many great memories with you. Thanks for all of them, and the many more to come, I hope! I don't know what I'd do without your knowledge of movies and actors, and your great music. I get all the good new stuff from you! :P Half of my ipod is probably your music. You're splendiferous.
E: What can I say about you? I'm not really sure. You're probably not going to read this so I won't write too much. But thank you for being there for me and confiding in me and trusting me. It means a lot. Know that you'll always be able to no matter what. I love that you get along so great with my dad, and you're able to joke about him killing you, even... over a t-shirt, no less. But I suppose those t-shirts mean a lot to both of you :P. Love you, best friend/husband. *pow* *two handed gun movement*
K: Well, we've been through a lot of ups and downs, but we've made it through them and that's really all that matters (in my opinion), isn't it? Though things were .. really... hard at times, we've managed to pull through and become friends again. Thank you for everything. (:
R: You have such a beautiful heart. And you probably just laughed at me for saying that, but I don't care. When it comes to people you care about, you show it. From the moment my mother met you, she said "Now that's a friend you want to keep." I'm glad I was able to keep you :P. Years have passed, but our friendship has still remained. You've provided so many laughs, and probably the same amount of clumsiness as me. Thanks for it all. (:
L: How's it feel? First year of University is done TOMORROW! And we, somehow, managed to go to school together since grade 1. From elementary, Junior High, Highschool, and University we've stuck together and managed to go to the same places. Not a lot of people can say that, but we can! You were my first best friend, and you're a great one. (Even though we had our stupid fight). You're always there when I need someone, and you're only about a two minute walk away (when we're at uni, anyway). Thank you for all the amazing, crazy memories that we've made over the years, and I hope that we get more.
T: Well, where do I start? You're absolutely nuts. :) That's about it. Just kidding. You're great, and you're so easy to get along with. We've talked about so many different things over the past few years, and I'm glad that I've got you around. Though we don't talk as much as we used to, we basically pick up where we left off whenever we see each other. Thanks for sticking around. (:
M: Bus buddy, I miss you. I miss our talks, and the way we'd mostly just be able to talk to each other with no biases because we both didn't know the other people. It was great. I think we'll have to have an ice cream date or something soon. But since you probably won't read this, I'll copy and paste it onto facebook somewhere. Thanks for everything, for listening to my annoying rants, and for letting me listen to yours.
H: You're amazing. Simply amazing. I love how we met, and how it just slowly built up. There are so many things that we've been able to talk about and so many things that don't make sense, but we still understand. I'm glad that we've got each other, and that we are going to be living together next year (Woot!). There's not too much that I can say without going overboard or making run on sentences. I tend to do that. But, know that I love you. Know that you're the sun to my summer. Thank you for everything, really.
K: Thirteen years. We've made it through them all. :) You're wonderful, and you're always around if someone needs to talk. You're so caring and kind and just spectacular. You work so hard at what you do, don't forget to take some time off for yourself. I loves you, muchly. <3
M: Best of the oldies for last, huh? :P Either that or you think I hate you ;). But I don't, I promise. :P We basically had instant friendship when we met. We talk about everything and I'm glad that I have someone I can do that with. It's easy to trust you and I'm happy I have you as a friend. Thank you for being there for me and telling me what I should do in situations where I"m just completely unsure. And thanks for making me laugh... cuz you can do that easily. :P I could go on, but I won't. So thank you for being you.
New friends!:)
K: You're wonderful. I'm definitely going to miss you this summer. And it sucks that I wasn't able to say goodbye. :(. You're so great, and you'll make a wonderful Don next year! I'm so glad it's you. So, Brit, I definitely hope you have a safe trip over, and I wish I could see you before... but I can't. :(. But it's SOON! 9 days til my trip, so not too far for your trip home. Thanks for helping me through things this year, I definitely needed your shoulder to cry on. Thank you for not sugar-coating anything, and for being honest with me. I needed it. Miss you already.
K: You were a wonderful roommate! I don't think I would have made it through part of the year without you, if you know what I mean. :P Thanks for that and all the laughter. Guns N Roses was definitely one of the best parts of the year, even though some sucky things happened around the time. Even though we're not going to be roomies next year, I'm glad you'll be close. (: Thanks for the fun times!
J: Where do I start? You're hilarious. Both you and T. The pranks you guys pulled were fun, and I miss them already. I don't think I would have survived Drama without you, so merci buckets for that. Thanks for all the jokes, and all the meal hall lunches. (: And making me like cheese whiz. :P Oh, and don't worry. I'll take H over to meet you and T next year in your single rooms away from us. :( :P. And say hi to L ;)
B: Hey pretty lady. You're absolutely amazing. You have such a caring heart and you're always there for people when they need you. You have left class so many times just to help people. You ran out a few times for me, and for others. Thank you so much. For everything. You're such a kind person. I'm definitely going to miss you this summer, but I'm definitely going to try to get to Halifax and visit you. But no, I am not riding a horse! I'd fall off, no question. Good luck with your boy :P. I miss your hugs. :( Love you <3
